Longarm Rental
Why go to a quilt store when you can come to my studio and work in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere? After your initial $25 training session, you can rent time to work on your projects based on the size of your quilt:
Purchase Batting or Bring Your Own
If you do not have batting, no problem! We have Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly blend, which is made of the finest American grown cotton and very fine polyester. The rolls are 96" wide, so you pay for it by the inch ($0.30). Because machine-quilting requires that the batting is slightly larger than the top, you will need to add at least two inches all the way around your top. For example, if your top is 80"x90" you will need 84" x 94" of batting. The rolls are 96" wide, so the cost for the batting would be 84 x .30 = $25.20. King-sized batting is available in a bag for $49.99.
Purchase Thread or Bring Your Own
Choose from a variety of thread at an additional cost of $5. We carry King Tut threads in both solid and variegated colors. If you prefer to bring your own, plan to bring machine-quilting quality thread. Sewing thread is not appropriate for machine-quilting.
Pantographs (edge-to-edge computer stitching)
There are a variety of patterns to choose from, but if we don't have what you want, we will split the cost with you. We recommend using www.urbanelementz.com to find pantographs. Most of them are $15, which we would download and cover half the expense.
Longarm Machine
We use a TinLizzie 18 with a 12' frame with Quilt Magician software. There are many learning videos on
YouTube that will give you an idea of how the machine and software work.
