This class is for students who have never used a sewing machine or would like to brush up on skills they learned years ago. 

By the end of this class, students will learn:

• the parts of the sewing machine and how they work together
• how to thread the machine and how to check the tension
• how to fill a bobbin
• how to stitch both forward and backward (and why)
• how to prepare fabric for sewing (pinning, pressing, cutting, etc.)

Special skills students will learn:

• French seam
• Inserting a zipper

Projects:

• Pillow Case
• Zipper Pouch

This class is approximately 5 hours. You may borrow a machine, but it's best to bring your own if possible. That way you can learn how to use it for future sewing at home.
